PRAYER / Lenten Reflection 2005

Monday, March 21, 2005

Who is this one whom Martha fetes, Mary anoints, and the chief priests plot against? The first Christians applied Isaiah’s Servant Songs to Jesus because they had personally experienced him as Son of Justice, the Servant of God, anointed by the Spirit to bring justice to the nations. He will be faithful to his mission of justice and neither "grow faint nor be crushed".

We all are co-missioned by our Baptism. Ask the Spirit to give you an update on your mission. It may have changed drastically or been nuanced by certain circumstances, like illness, a geographic move, a new job. How can this mission entrusted to you bring justice to the nations, or to the people around you?

May we be faithful, Jesus, as you are to us. Help us today to embody your justice wherever the Spirit sends us--today.
